The ‘small but perfectly formed’ suite is ideal for two people and is situated in the heart of West Mainland, Orkney. Because of the location it is ideal for guests to explore and ‘Experience Orkney’ with all its wonderful facets. We are also dog friendly.
The accommodation is situated in a private, self contained wing at the back of our home – a 150 year old farmhouse, set on the edge of the Tooin hills, in a beautiful location with stunning views above Harray Loch, and other inland Lochs. Often the only sounds are the birds and the lowing cattle. Undergoing complete renovation in 2012/13, now offering high standard accommodation, retaining characterful and traditional features, we hope it offers the quality and special touches that make a holiday or break memorable.
It is in an ideal position for those who wish to have a quiet, away from it all break, and also for walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers, dog owners and fishing enthusiasts. Within a short drive there are the World Heritage Neolithic sites, popular with visitors: Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, Maeshowe, Stones of Stenness, also the archaeological dig at the ‘Ness of Brodgar’.
We are a fifteen minute drive from Stromness and Kirkwall and less than 5 minutes from Dounby, the nearest village with most essentials – fuel, food, medical centre, etc. There are also 2 good hotels with bar and restaurant facilities within 3 miles, one on the banks of Harray Loch. This is a lovely location to enjoy a meal and refreshment on a sunny summer’s evening, and cosy with a real fire in the darker, colder months.
